The first time I visited Toppings, EDINBURGH I was offered a cafetière of steaming coffee, & a table with a window seat. I’d dropped in unannounced, simply to browse at leisure & for my own curiosity, as a new author, to see I AM AN ISLAND displayed in-store.
It was amazing to see the window & table displays & staff enthusiasm for our beautiful hardback. As well as this warm welcome, thoughtful recommendations for fresh reading & offer of a coffee that greets every reader who walks in the door. The next time I visited, I brought Maude with me & we met Cordelia & all the team. I know now this welcome is gifted to every reader who walks in the door & wishes to browse longer... Here are some of my favourite independent bookshops, each with its uniquely relaxed & skilful approach. THANKYOU for your support, & making me & Maude feel so welcome & at home.
The historic Writer’s Room, Blackwell’s Oxford was a beautiful setting to sign 50 Unique Signed Limited Hardback Editions - with local radio & unique hardbacks sold on the day
The Author’s corner at Mr B’s Emporium, BATH was a perfect place for signing & chatting with staff - I hope to chat with some of you again, with my digital bookclubs for I AM AN ISLAND paperback from Autumn into Winter 2021-2022 … & a preview of the gorgeous hand stitched hand bound limited editions with words & images showcased in A WILDER VOICE
300 Signed Hardbacks & Innovative Displays …
300 signed copies for Toppings across between their bookshops in EDINBURGH, ST ANDREWS & BATH. Hardbacks were skilfully displayed - I AM AN ISLAND was featured prominently across 6-8 different subject areas including nature, memoir, travel, Scottish non fiction, & coldwater swimming - with prominent displays on the front table, till point, shelving, window displays & display casing. Thankyou!
